WHAT HUNTERS AROUND THE COUNTRY HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THE HUNT RECORDER & NOTES BOOK
Super Buck Is New Maine N-T Record!
We all have dreams of putting our tag on the Big Boy, but I had no idea I would get to play a part in accomplishing one man¹s very big dream. Last week the phone rang again, and Mr. Gardner told me a tale that made my heart swell with pride. Both for him, because of his accomplishment and that his name is now engraved in the record books for having bow killed the largest non-typical buck in the history of Maine; and for myself, because The Hunt Recorder played an important role in helping him accomplish what he set out to do. Upon my request, he sent me the short version of his tale for use on my web site. In his own words, here is his story... At the end of the 2002 season I jumped a buck that would take up most of my time for the next three seasons. Topo maps , aerial photos, and endless foot work were some of the things that helped me finally harvest my buck. But the Hunt Recorder & Notes Book really helped me unravel the bucks pattern. By recording times of day, his sightings, weather patterns, wind direction, and where he was during each phase of the rut all played a role. After every season I would pour over my notes in the Hunt Recorder, and by the third season I really felt like I had a grasp on what he was doing. The first season I saw him he was to far for a shot. The second season he came in from behind me, but I drew my bow to soon. He heard me draw and looked up at me, and was gone. My friends found his 2004 sheds, and in January 2005 I discovered his sheds. They scored 75 and 76 inches. I was also able to get a good game trail picture of him. By the time the 2005 season came I felt like the notes I had taken in the Hunt Recorder had revealed a definite pattern of when this buck liked to move, but I still had my doubts. But things came together on October 10, 2005. He was working a rub line down in a creek bottom leading into some apple trees to feed. A heavy rain had just let up and there was about a half hour of shooting light left. With an overcast day and a full moon, all the conditions were present as to when I had seen him in the past. I knew these things because of the notes I kept in my Hunt Recorder. It told me the time of year and the conditions I should try to hunt this buck. It also helped me in planning adjustments with my stands each season. It is a fantastic tool for deer hunters. My buck scored 181 2/8 NT and is a new state record for Maine.
Thanks for taking the time to talk to me when I called, and offering some advice on my hunting spot a couple of years ago. And thank you for creating such a handy tool like the Hunt Recorder & Notes book. Sincerely, Bill Gardner
The Hunt Recorder and Notes
Book
The Hunt Recorder & Notes Book at the very least is the most complete and well thought out hunting journal on the market today....(Read Review)
"The product is easy to use and understand. If you are a serious hunter, this is a good tool to improve your hunting success." Robert L Stroop "After 22 years of deer hunting and many tries to keep records and notes this one works. You can record all of the information you need to help you hunt more effectively and efficiently in a compact space. The area for sketches and notes is useful to help determine stand placement or movement patterns or to make notes of interesting things that happen during the hunt. The extras in the back are very useful also. PS- I was able to kill two bucks in my first 6 hunts recorded. One was my best bow kill buck to date." John Hooser "This notebook is very simple and educational to new hunters. I tip my hat to Mr. Christensen on how thorough this notebook is." Bob Dufresne "Having all the information in front of you makes a big difference knowing when and where the deer will move in your hunting area. I can't wait to finish up the late bow season in my area with the information I know about deer movements now." Jeff Haag "The Hunt Recorder is a superbly set up hunters log. I think every hunter who spends any amount of time in the field would appreciate this workbook." Ron Wheeler "I recommend this product to the serious hunter
that is always looking for that edge." George Baker
"The idea of recording the results of your hunt
are great. I know of two other hunters who do this and they are in
my eyes successful." Jesse Land
